All outdoor sessions are shot about an hour before sunset. As moms to young children, we understand that outdoor sessions may not always work out for you in that time bracket - alternatively we can do day time sessions at our studio (located in New Lenox, IL).
how to book
1. email when you’re ready to book and we will select dates
2. review and sign your contract
3. pay your retainer fee (50% non refundable retainer fee due at the time of book and the other is due 7 days prior to our session)
4. get excited for our session while we send you the pre-session consultation and styling guide
We book popular dates about 5 weeks in advance (earlier in the fall) so as soon as you’re sure that we are a perfect match, get in touch and avoid disappointment - we want to be there!
low key policies and procedure
Due to limited session days and times, your retainer fee is non-refundable and only allowed to be transferred to another date ONCE. If you cannot make it to the scheduled session, please let us know within 24 hours so we can schedule the session for another open day/time.
While our goal is for you to be absolutely in love with your photos and we will work with you to make sure you’re 100% satisfied, please keep in mind that due to the custom nature of the products, all sales are final. If a reshoot is warranted it must be scheduled within 4 weeks of your original session or else session will be forfeited.
All images will be purged (deleted) 6 months after your session. You are required to backup and store your images. We do not sell our digital negatives and we choose all images given to clients based on our artistic opinion. All images given to client will be hand edited and may not be re-edited, including Instagram filters.

What should we wear for our family photo session?
Choosing outfits can be tricky, but we’ve got you covered! After booking, you’ll receive a prep guide with tips on what to wear, as well as a link to a styling guide to help you pick the perfect outfits for the session.
What if my child is shy or uncooperative during the session?
It's normal for kids to feel shy or uncooperative. we specialize in working with children of all ages and temperaments, and we will do everything we can to make them feel comfortable. The goal is to capture genuine moments, and by letting them be themselves, we’ll get the best results.
Do you offer prints and other products?
Yes, we offer a variety of print options and high-quality heirloom products, including albums and canvases. We will help you choose the perfect keepsakes to showcase your family portraits for years to come.
How soon will we receive our edited photos?
You can expect your edited photos within 2-3 weeks after the session.
What can we expect during the family session?
You can expect a relaxed, fun, and interactive session. Our sessions are designed with kids in mind—whether they’re shy or energetic, we will guide you through posing, laughing, and playing to capture genuine smiles. The goal is for everyone to feel comfortable, natural, and most importantly, to have fun!
Do you use props in the session?
No, we don’t bring props to the session. We believe your family is the star of the show, and we want to capture your unique beauty without distractions.
Can we request specific locations for our session?
Yes, absolutely - depending on which session you booked! After booking clients will fill out a questionnaire that gives us a better idea for your ideal location. We have a wide variety of outdoor locations in the area and will choose one that best fits you.
Can we bring our pets to the photo session?
Absolutely! Pets are welcome at outdoor sessions. However, due to our studio lease agreement, pets are not allowed inside the studio. Your furry friends are part of the family, and we'd love to include them in your session. Just bring their favorite toys or treats to help them feel comfortable and cooperative. It's also a good idea to bring a friend along to walk your dog after their part of the shoot is finished.
We prefer photos where we’re not looking at the camera.
We aim to capture both posed and candid moments during your session. If you prefer more natural, unposed images, let us know, and we’ll focus on those. We encourage playful interactions like cuddling, tickling, and exploring with your children to get those genuine, joyful moments.
What if my child won’t sit still?
No worries! We are used to working with all types of children, from the shy ones to the high-energy toddlers. It's rare for kids to stay still, and we love capturing authentic moments of them being themselves. Whether it's tantrums, giggles, or running in the opposite direction, we’ll work with your child’s energy to create beautiful portraits.
How do I prepare my kids for the session?
We suggest telling your kids:
“On [insert day here], we’re going to meet an awesome photographer named [insert name]. We’re going to hang out, have fun, and she’ll take some pictures while we play!”
No need for rehearsed smiles or stressing about "saying cheese"—that usually leads to forced smiles. If needed, small incentives like a treat after the session can help. Everyone deserves a little reward after a fun day!
How do we know which season to choose for our session?
When selecting the best season for your family photo session, think about the look you’re envisioning. Are you drawn to the warm, rich colors of autumn with changing leaves? Or perhaps lush greenery and soft pastel florals are more your style? Whatever your dream session looks like, it’s important to choose the season that best aligns with it.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our scheduled session?
We keep a close eye on the weather leading up to each session. If the forecast looks uncertain, we’ll reach out to you via text or email. Depending on the weather prediction, we may adjust the time or location to work around it. If Mother Nature is uncooperative, we will reschedule for a day and time that works for both of us. If the weather doesn't cooperate on the day of your session, don’t worry! We can reschedule for another day or explore indoor locations that offer beautiful natural light and ambiance.
